Latest review on Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA has a thick, creamy, slightly off-white head, and a clear, fairly bubbly, golden appearance, with substantial lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, sugary medium-roasted barley malt, with a faint presence of hop oil. Taste is of those things, plus the beer has a strong, yet not harsh, hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA finishes dry, refreshing, and easy drinking. Overall, I prefer a harsher hop attack, but this beer is still 4 stars (most excellent).

Latest review on Sweetwater Blue Ale

Poured from 12” bottle into pint glassAppearance: Pours a 1” white head that recedes rapidly with light lacing. Color is light golden and clear with a few carbonation bubbles streaming.Aroma: blueberries are the dominate smell. Can’t really detect anything other than that, maybe a little grassy aroma.Mouthfeel: light, watery, refreshing with a mostly dry finish.Flavor: a very mild hop bitterness lingers at the end. Other than that there is some sweet bready malt flavors and a grassy wheat taste. If you like blueberries, you will enjoy this beer. It truly has blueberry flavor without being cloyingly sweet.Overall: this is a nice Summer ale. Not a great, but a good beer, especially if you like this style. It somewhat reminds me of Abita’s Strawberry Lager.

Latest review on Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA

On draft at The Kinsale in Boston. Came in a snifter as recommended without much head, typical of a pub pour. A swirl in the glass raised a little head and left nice lacing in glass. Really great nose of citrus an floral hops. Nice caramel malts balance it perfectly. Very smooth and rich mouthfeel. Favor is again of those citrus and floral hops, and it simply tastes fantastic. Long. lingering, and wonderful bitter finish. Without a doubt one of the very best DIPA’s ever. Score of 8.6 for four and a half stars.

Latest review on Samuel Adams Double Agent IPL

Shared with Stryzone via Facebook Chat. i read the bottle wrong and thought this was IPA, not IPL. Dave set me straight. It poured a amber gold with a dingy white head and good lacing. Nose is a lot of hops...with flowers, citrus, and some pine. Medium in body and with a very smooth lager mouth feel. Flavor is very rich and shows a ton of west coast hops and the lager smoothness and hops make for a delightful beer. I wonder why more brewers don’t do this. The best of both worlds....lager smoothness and clarity and all the flavor of an IPA. Score of 8.2 for four stars.

Latest review on Southern Tier 2XIPA

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glassAppearance: pours a 3" fluffy white head that recedes slowly with significant lacing. Color is deep golden and mostly clear, but there is a tiny bit of sediment present. Carbonation is heavy.Aroma: heavy citrus presence -- orange, tangerine, and grapefruit. There is also some mild malt sweetness.Mouthfeel: medium bodied and sticky with a mostly dry finish.Flavor: echoes the aroma. The citrus hops are powerful throughout the taste but there is some pleasant malt sweetness in the middle and finish.Overall: A most excellent brew. I have had this a few times on tap, this was my first bottled purchase of 2XIPA. Definitely worth a try if you can find it and you like hops.

Latest review on St. Erhard

St. Erhard has a very thick, rocky, off-white head and a clear, fairly bubbly, orange-gold appearance, with some thick, splotchy lacing left behind. The aroma is faint, but one can detect a standardized beer aroma. Taste is of medium-roasted barley malt, a subtle caramel, and mild, balancing hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and St. Erhard finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, mild, and drinkable. Overall, this is really enjoyable, and I score it 3.5 stars (excellent).VIDEO REVIEW: -Website Link-

Latest review on Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA

Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA has a medium, off-white head, an unclear, brilliant, amber-orange appearance, with thin, white lacing, and an enormous amount of bubbles all about. The aroma is very juicy up front (think of mango), with an underlying toasted barley malt note. Taste is of sweet, juicy hops, hop oil, some bitterness, and toasted barley malt. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit oily, and Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA finishes semi-dry, sweet, mildly alcohilic, and surprisingly easy drinking. Overall, this beer was not as bitter, rich, extreme, and hoppy as the hype led me to believe. That aside, I still think it is a wonderful beer to be able to sample. Overall, I rate this as outstanding (4.5 stars).

Latest review on Pilsener 100 of El Salvador

Pilsener 100 (Centenario) of El Salvador has a rather thin, white head and a clear, bubbly, straw appearance, with little white specks floating about and minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is of pungent, sweet, sugary barley malt and clean water. Taste is of sweet barley malt, a touch of hops in the background, slight sourness, and biscuit. Mouthfeel is mostly light and a bit slick, and Pilsener 100 finishes crisp, clean, semi-dry, refreshing, and exceptionally drinkable. Overall, this is a most excellent beer, and I rate it 4 stars.
