Three Floyd's is obviously the best known brewer from Indiana. You have Bell's and Founder's up in Michigan making outstanding beers.. it's really a great time to live in the Midwest, for sure. Let me try and give you a short list at least: 3 Floyd's Alpha King is one of my favorites as an everyday hoppy ale, but Darkhorse Crooked Tree IPA from Michigan may be my favorite IPA on the market. Masterfully made is all I can say. Jolly Pumpkin Brewing up in Michigan is doing some amazing beers aged in various kinds of wood casks, mainly more of a Belgian-style.. but not really. They are pretty unique and very good. Brugge Brewing is getting set to start bottling soon, they started as a brewpub in Indianapolis and opened a brewery in Terre Haute, IN where they are kegging many of their beers as the bottling gets up to speed. They are strictly a Belgian theme and have a trippel that won silver a GABF a couple years ago, a Belgian Black ale that is outstanding and a White ale that is world class. That should be enough to get anyone started I think!

The stuff from Three Floyds and Bells is as good as anything anywhere.

I just got back from there this past weekend and there is great stuff coming from the New Glarus Brewery. The New Glarus Belgian Red is a beer brewed with cherries. They claim the equivalent of 20lbs of cherries are used for each bottle produced. They have won gold multiple times in Belgium with this beer if that gives you any idea. They also have a beer called Crack'd Wheat which is a hefeweizen dry hopped with Amarillo hops. I would seriously drink this every day of the week if it was available in Indiana. In fact I decided last night that whenever I get around to brewing again, that is the first thing I am going to try and replicate. The real problem with the Midwest is most of the brands don't get very far from the brewery. Goose Island in Chicago has the best distribution as they have some agreement with Anheuser Busch so they got on that huge distribution network. But their standard offerings are kind of so-so. They do have a high end line-up but I don't know how far that travels. Bell's is probably the best travelled of the higher quality, and I would be surprised if it gets out of the midwest. Same with Three Floyd's. I think they get from Ohio to Iowa and then the states to the north. Their brewmaster Barnaby has specifically stated they have no plans to expand much further then that.
