I am going to try something new here, and use the 100 point scale favored by sine nerds. bear with me, i thin it has more versatility than the 0-5 scale. Had an allagash curieux tonight, one of the best beers i have ever had. Beautiful head, lots of lacing, nose smells like you pored a good bourbon in to a great tripel. Tastes of vanilla and cloves and good bread. Best mouth-feel ever, creamy and smooth. I ove this beer, I don't care that it costs 15 bones a bottle, its worth it. 96 points

OK, on to the beer at hand. Great head, really great had for a pale ale. Huge, fluffy cloud, and tons of lacing, you can tell there is tons of hop resin in here just by looking. appearance 4.2 Not quite as impressed with the nose. This beer is supposed to be hop forward, and last years had a great nose, lots of good floral hop aromas coming through, but this year its weak, I get some piney hops, some floral notes in the back, and even a touch of heat, which i should not pick up on the nose of a 6.7abv beer smell gets a 3.1 The taste is a lot better. I mean a lot . Immediate hit of really piney hop flavors, no real bitterness on the front. The mid palate is more floral and herbal, like azaleas blooming near a window planter of herbs. There is some malt sweetness sneaking in at this point as well, just enough to tel you there is some malt in this beer, but not enough to distract from the hops. The finish show some bittering hops, its dry, and bitter as hell, and i love it. taste 4.3 The mouthfeel is okay, really a touch thick for my taste, i would have preferred a beer with this hop profile be a bit thinner and more carbonated, hell just more carbonated would have done the trick. Just not what i am looking for in the moutfeel of a fresh hop apa. 3.4 Its very drinkable, goes down easily, i'm glad this was a bomber, cuz one twelve ozer would have just left me wanting more. drinkablity 4.4 Over all this is a great beer. I look forward to it each year. This years wasn't quite as good as last years, but its still damn good. Final score 3.91.
