The Abita Brewing Company is proud to announce that its newest TV campaign “Culture on Tap” features the music of New Orleans legend, multiple Grammy-award winner and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dr. John.

“We’re so excited to feature the music of a Louisiana icon like Dr. John,” said David Blossman, President of the Abita Brewing Company. “Revolution is the title of the song and a great choice for Abita Beer. We started the craft beer revolution in Louisiana back in 1986 and we’ve always had an attitude of not following the crowd and doing things our own way. Abita fans share this spirit and we’re grateful for their support over the past 26 years.”

The track featured in the campaign is Revolution from Dr. John’s most recent CD release, Locked Down. The new album, produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, received a four-star review from Rolling Stone and was named among the “Best Albums of 2012 So Far.“

Locked Down is an entirely new approach for the iconic Dr. John, featuring his collaboration with Auerbach and a band of young musicians hand-picked by Auerbach. Rolling Stone describes it as, "Full of muscled, vintage R&B grooves, fevered soloing, psychedelic arrangements and oracular mumbo jumbo." NPR says Dr. John, "proves that now, as always, he's the ruler of American roots music.”

Starting this weekend the spot will be broadcast in the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Shreveport and Monroe television markets.

The commercial includes a quick frame or two telling you to text "culture" to 411247 to get a free download of Dr. John's song "Revolution", which is used in the commercial. It said the code expires in 72 hours, so I wonder when the clock started.

Anyone going to the Home Brew Harvest at the RiverMarket in downtown Monroe, LA on Sat., Oct. 27 from 10-2?
