We typically think of lighter-bodied beers to battle the summer heat, but every food needs a beer to pair with it, and here are some of our suggestions. With hot dogs and sausages, consider a Kölsch-style ale. The official local brew of the Cologne, on Germany’s Rhine River, a Kölsch (pronounced kullesh) is bright and straw-colored, pouring with a nice, white, foamy head. A Kölsch typically has a slight biscuity flavor and mild hops notes, making it a nice compliment to the spices in your favorite sausage.
